Stress relief? What about some rounds at a shooting range –
sounds better.
The Texas Gun Law allows citizens of Texas to exercise their
Constitutional right to bear arms. At first, I could not believe the fact that
almost every person in Texas is armed, or at least has a gun. The Second
Amendment is a well-exercised right in Texas. Boldly, there is no gun registry
in Texas. One can just drop by a gun show or any gun shop and buy any type of
guns and ammunition with only a standard background check. It is like buying a
furniture!
Once I started firing at a shooting range, I became
comfortable using my Glock 42. I find it as a great stress-relief hobby. However,
when I applied for my Concealed Handgun License (CHL) and attended a class for
that matter, it dawned on me the necessity of having guns at home, in the car,
or hand carry. During the class, I became more familiar with the Texas Gun Law,
the places I am allowed and not allowed to carry my handgun even if I am a holder
of CHL. Congruently, I became more vigilant of my surroundings. I also realized
how important it is to be a responsible gun owner. My new motto – live today
and die another day. My new principle – if in doubt, leave it out. Those were
the things that echoed in my ear during and after the said class.
Last Christmas, my husband’s gift to me was a Smith &
Wesson M&P 15-22. Today, we went to an open-field
shooting range and tested my new rifle. It is light and very reliable. After firing for about five hours, I did not experience any misfeed. I had fun using this AR. It is very comfortable, simple, and absolutely no recoil. It made me want to shoot more. I love this new baby!
