Empty Chair
by Aileen D. (February 2013)
Twenty students came to class this morning,
Ready to start another day of reading.
“Good Morning class!” said the teacher.
Everyone greeted back except Peter.
At a glance, Peter’s chair is empty.
“He’s a goner,” said one teasingly.
That moment, the teacher cried miserably.
Early morning of that day,
She passed by a terrible car accident along her way.
She thought she saw a familiar face
Being pulled from the rubbles.
“It couldn’t be him,” she mumbled.
Now the empty seat couldn’t be colder.
Peter is never coming to class forever.
Why should I love thee?
by Aileen D.(July 2004)
Agonizing soul in this rotten world;
Drowning in the burning fire of hell;
A stupid, dumb creature distressing herself.
What a cruel world this bitter earth!
Why did I let my life be wasted by dejection?
Oh, why did I allow myself be buried in desolation?
How factual is it that truth will set you free?
Where truth hurts you like a thousand knives that’s now killing me.
Why let one’s heart be derided viciously,
Where all I did is to give love unconditionally?
Why let this innocent soul suffer one’s misery,
Where all I did is give love that outlast earth and eternity?
Oh, life is so unfair and prejudice.
What more can it give but anguish?
If this is the love that you once promised me,
I ask for compassion and just set me free.
Roseheart

Years ago….
We planted the seed of affection.
We watered it with love and devotion.
We cared for it with full emotion.
When the so-blessed plant started to sprout,
There came a threat of dearth and drought.
But because of our caring and compassionate heart,
Together, we saved it and we were so glad.
When the plant started to bud,
We became more protective and we gave much love.
But then again, there came another hazard.
Together, we shielded it with our gentle hands.
But now that the plant is fully grown,
And its alluring flower is in full bloom,
There came another risk of being wilted and gloom
And if not taken cared of will surely be doomed.
We planted the seed of love long time ago,
We loved it, we protected it, and we watched it grow.
We were there together, good times and bad times,
Two hearts overwhelming with love, yours and mine.
But one day, you started to wander
Like the buzzing bees beside our beloved flower.
You’ve noticed the beautiful and colorful wildflowers,
And then for a moment I was left alone while you wander.
There are lots of flowers in the wild that will dissuade you with their charm
But behold! Behind their captivating looks is a threat of harm.
Wildflowers are not like ours that is watered with love and tested with time.
So don’t be fooled, don’t let it die on your hands, and regret it the rest of your life.

SCARLET

A beautiful name
that I wont forget
A lady who never vacillated
becoming my friend.
Someone who can relate to me
like no other
A girl so strong
yet so gentle
and considerate.
A person whose
arms are always
open for me.
A companion
who unconditionally
keeps secrets
with me.
A sassy girl
who can make me
smile even
I'm in tears.
A person
who will food-trip
with me when
I’m disheartened.
